Thank you Kyle for working on this problem for us/me.

Now if 251 498 203 F is the one you stock and sell, then this appears to be the boot kit for the *earlier* vans, not the late ones.

That is, second guess me on this, the fiche stipulates that:

>F 24-G-053-142

means *after* this chassis number while

F 24-G-053-142>

means *before* this chassis number

This analysis from the notations at the bottom of the fiche where they use >> to represent the > triangle/arrow pointer.

Since the fiche stipulates that the F boots are F 24-K-119 058> then it appears you are selling 87 boots to customers to install into 90 vans. So the big question is, what is the downside of this approach, and does anybody know why Volkswagen changed the boot design mid-year and continues to specify a different boot depending on the year of the syncro.

I think I will cc this to Dennis Haynes to try to get him to respond as he tends to know everything. I notice Tim Smith and Syncrohead are resolutely silent so I am not sure we are going to get any help out of that quarter. Jim and Ron are also not surfacing. I notice you guys tend to take turns and not to jump in on the same topic for fear of a fight breaking out unless one of you has a good comeuppance to offer.
