so swaps seem to be the best choice. I'd rather see the swap use a VW engine and not require a year of trial and error re-engineering. So, anybody tried a swap of a 2 liter 16V engine from a Golf, Jetta or Passat? I own a '92 Jetta 16V and the engine in this thing is wonderful (after a swap of computer chip and a 2 1/4" exhaust. The stock engines with conservative tuning and pea-shooter exhaust are good for 134hp. I'd guess mine is closer to the euro-spec 150hp. >

Hmm...From what i understand from the Autocrossers the 16v engines have much less torque than their 8v brothers...

Allthough the only 16v i've driven was an 86 Jetta GLI, and i didnt drive it far...I did notice a differnce, though..but it could have been for other reasons..:)

Without the torque to move the bus around, the engine may as well be a wasser....:) ....david (my few cents!) -- David Raistrick '69 Westy-Itchigo keen@tiora.net '66 Hardtop Westy(Sold!) in Augusta Ga '72 Westy-Customers Project '66 SO44 Westy-Soon, exchange for the finished project!
