I believe they are going after BMW and Mercedes, as some magazine article had said. IMHO, VW isn't going off of the deep end; you can still get a cheap VW; a basic golf will cost you about $14,000. I think they are looking at the current minivan market and somehow think that type of EV is justified here. I hope they do sell it; we'll pick up a used '99 when our current EV gets tired.
