Subject: North American Vanagon in trouble in France

Several years ago, I took my family and my fuel injected Vanagon to France for the school year. Everything mechanical worked perfectly. I sold my 1984 Vanagon to my friend in France, and he has had trouble free motoring for the past four years.

Lately however, he complains of the van's motor working perfectly when cold, but once it has warmed up, it misses and has little power.

He says that the vans in Europe are carbureted, so he cannot fetch any parts from auto wreckers, to solve the problem. Also, the mechanics are clue less about a fuel injected motor, so he cannot count on their help.

I thought I'd photocopy the applicable pages from Bentley, for him to troubleshoot. All my iron is diesel, so I can't offer any help from my repair experience. If you water-boxer whiz kids could give me a few suggestions as to what the problem parts could be, then I'll mail over any repair parts that he might need.

Thanking all in advance.
