I've got to agree with Josh on this one. Having did the R&R and 2.1
upgrade to my 84 Westy last May-June 97, I can attest to the 20-30 hours to
do this right. In fact I really took my time corrrecting and modifying
some things in my upgrade which I am sure increased the labor time and I
couldn't have afforded to have someone else do it. Just removing the
engine required some time tagging the endless sea of wiring and hoses so
that it could be put back together right the first time - about a 2/3 of a
day alone.
Depending on where you're at here in rainy California, the labor rates can
be as high as $65/hr in the LA area, $50/hr in most other parts of the
state. Here in Redding, the average is $45/hr and a few dollars more in
the higher-end quality shops.
