There is an excellent post from Steve Hoge in the archives dated 1/5/96
pointing out that there was a running change during the 1989 model year of
manufacture and that Syncro front outer boots differ depending on whether
the vanagon was made before or after this date.

This post is to ask if anyone knows why this would be so. This means that
my 1990 vehicle cannot use the boots made for 1987 vehicles, for example. I
have a spare boot kit, but now am afraid that I cannot use it because this
spare outer front boot kit might be for the pre-89 vehicles.

I notice that the fiche says that when buying the boot plus CV Joint there
is no difference by year, however.
