My starter- which the PO had JUST replaced with the alternator AND battery before he sold it to me- was sluggish. As it was new, I ruled it out as a problem. I bought the van in late spring, and as I tried it out, the starter would crank much more slowly than I remember my dad's loaf doing. Fortunately, the motor always fired up instantly... Two batteries later, I found a ground strap loose. Hooked it up to everything. No luck whatsoever. Thought I had a leak; the only thing draining power ended up being the Quartz-Zeitgeist (clock). From then on, I just white-knuckled it every time I fired up the van. Now they say it's a trans bearing or a relay thing. Is there a distinction in sympotms between a condition that requires one and a condition that requires another? If it's the bearing, which one and how do I replace it? My (auto) trans rebuild is recent. This makes no sense. :( Any help is appreciated.
