My driver side power window control has been slowly failing, and today it died. Previously, I would just have to slam the door and it would start working again. I thought I would just have to pop open the door, clean some wires, and I'd be done. No such luck. I'm not terribly technical, but here is the best I could figure out. The passenger side window works from the switch on the passenger side, so it's not the fuse, but it does not work from the switch on the drivers side. How can I test to see if it's the power window motor or the switch. Running a multi-meter from the positive terminal on the power window switch to ground shows 12V, so it appears to be getting power. Can I run 12 volts directly to the motor to see if it works? How would you control the direction the window rolls? Reverse the polarity? My browser times-out searching the archives, so no info there.
