I have a water boxer engine with an oil cover seal leak that I would like to fix. The Bentley mannual is worthless about this issue--tells hardly anything about working with the oil pump and mentions nothing about seals. Looks to me as if the full oil pressure is working against the cover. But I really can't tell if the leak is from the surface where the cover meets the oil pump housing (which seems most probably), or whether there is a potential leak from what looks like a seal behind the oil pump housing. The surfaces look smooth, and the seals look good. Any sealant you would suggest I use to get a tighter surface? Any BTDT on fixing this common leak? Help would be appreciated. I am on the digest, so any direct email would get to me sooner. Thanks, Joel Skousen |
