Subject: black wires from ignition switch
Comments: To: Vanagon@vanagon.com

I was installing an el cheapo starter kill alarm yesterday that hooks into "the black wire from the ignition switch to the fuse box." I couldn't get my fat head under there to see where they went, but there are 2 black wires from the ignition switch.

So I picked one, and what happens now is that the starter kicks in and cranks, but the motor never catches and "ignites." So I figure that the wire I picked perhaps goes to the ignition coil? Are there separate wires that go to the ignition coil and the starter?

Anyway, seems like a decent solution since there's no other warning. The crook will think the van just doesn't start and figure "fuggedaboudit." :-P
