Subject: it's time to deal with the A/C in the south - getting rid of R-12
Comments: To: Vanagon@VANAGON.COM

I'm about ready to plunge ahead and get rid of the R-12 in the A/C and was looking to collect experiences. The "quick fix" is to completely recover (evacuate) the R-12 and install a full charge of an R-12 substitute. I'd love to hear from anyone WRT that option.

The main concern/problem here is the hose quality on the Vanagon. Has anyone been able to verify if the stock A/C hoses are nitrile or not?

Specifically I'm interested in model years 86 and up.

TIA - Frank
