Greetings:

Several owners have mentioned cruise control on Vanagons -- is there an after-market cruise control unit available that works reasonably well? My 86GL Weekender has remnants of a unit that was removed before I bought it.

Thanks -- Frank LaHorgue >> On my 85/automatic transmission, I have an after market cruise control manufactured by Dana Coroporation, who were bought out by Rostra in Laurenburg, SC (910) 276-4853. I had mine professionally installed right after I bought my van. The owner's manual is clear enough that someone handier than I could fairly easily install it. Rostra can provide you names of installers/repairers in your area. The unit uses a vacuum-operated servo- controlled mechanism -- the vacuum reservoir is large enough that the Vanagons low vacuum at highway speeds is not a problem. Russ Henderson, P.O.
