Gosh, I was wondering what in the @#!? VW was thinking when they welded the swivel seat brackets to the front seat mounts in my '87 Westy? The loss of the small but useful space under the seats is atrocious. In fact, non swivel-seat Vanagoners store their jack there (sure wish I could). I wonder which year's were "welded" and which years were "bolted"?

For what it's worth. I cut a square access hole under the passenger swivel seat to place (and gain access to) a 45amp cut-out relay (with heat sink) for my second battery in this otherwise unusable space. At least that space is doin' some work now!

No welding needed. Took it out of my vanagon in a couple of minutes because I got new seats with integral swivels. > > If you're in Europe and need one, send me a message (100 guilders or DM, 35 pounds) > > Jan Willem Briër (mr), > High Rise Professional Services, The Netherlands.
