    Well... the general consensus is that the swap is fairly routine...

    If I want to use the fuel injection, I have to use a F/I bus gas
tank for the return line fittings... talked to the owner tonight and
told him I'd take it...

    turns out that for an additional $60-$75 I can have the new 009
distributor and the comp-u-fire points eliminator system he just bought
for it...

    Main differences: location of Dipstick, cooling tin, rear fan
housing, and either front or rear oil seal (I forget which)....

    I'll have to use the rear crossmember from the '73, but that's okay
as I just got my Da'Lan hitch that utilizes that crossmember...

    Another question ... Will I be able to use the bigger alternator
from the Vanagon??

    that should be a 90 amp, right??

    stock '73 would be a 60-75 amp??

    A quick check thru Bentley didn't reveal much...

    any way I can use the alt powered squirrel cage fan set-up...

    should be able to get the Vanagon here this weekend, and start the
whole process...

    anyone need any Vanagon stuff?? This is a plain jane '81 7 passenger
with rubber mats, no chrome, no weekender rear bench seat, no tach, and
crappy vinyl interior... It'll have to be quick "you come and take it
off" type deal as I have no more room!! two weeks tops before it heads
to the junkie.... will not have Engine or Tranny...
