Looks like time for me to get into this one. :(

If the authors (us listees) and the administrators both hold the copyright, than to release the material to put in the archives CD-ROM, we would all have to grant clearance, right? I've dealt with copyright myself, so I know how this fun stuff works...

If what Vanagon.com does is legal and in the clear, than any profits made are purely at their discretion to use, from a legal standpoint. If it isn't, than they will have to hand each of us listees a royalty check prorated to the amount of bandwidth we use, or be sued. I can't wait to get my $0.02 back, in a check.

It would be best to just go ahead and consult a lawyer who deals with intellectual property on a consistent basis before proceeding with this. I personally don't care about my stuff- I didn't write a book or record album for this list- but, as mentioned earlier, Mr. Walker's corpus is here, and he and some others must care a great deal about their intellectual property being plundered.

If I am wrong, I will gladly stand corrected.

Happy Easter, Sam
