Ed,

I have been using an alternative to the Bently procedure over the last year. I have done it several times since I was having some problems with my inner head gaskets.

What I do is fill the cooling system through the radiator like most normal cars. I do this by siphoning coolant from a jug resting on a windshield wiper directly into the bleeder hole on the radiator. The tubing I used was left over from an old direct reading oil pressure gauge and is small enough to allow air to escape around the edges. If you raise the front of the van and occaisionally bleed the bubble in the expansion tank by just slightly opening the cap you will get out almost all the air in the system. It is a one-person procedure and not nearly as spastic as the one described in Bentley. Hope this is helpful.

Think a bunch of us would prefer an alternative...
