Listees,

Before the discussion to the organize a group purchase, and the subsequent decision by Ron Salmon and Kelly Bauman to distribute the books in the States and in Canada, respectively, I ordered the manual, #3452, on-line, via credit card payment. The book arrived today, probably 10 days, at most, after I ordered it. The accompanying invoice was for UK Pounds 22.58, about $38.00 US. including "carriage" (shipment).

It is a superb book, one that is more for the amateur or apprentice level mechanic/owner than is Bentley, for example. It contains lots of pictures and illustrations and clear, clear text and a respect for the reader. If you are VW Van-challenged at any level, and if you want improve your skills, improve your Vanagon-conversation capabilities, rush to the post office, or conform to Ron's and Kelly's other payment options, and send your order for about half the price I paid..

Downside: according to the jacket blurb, "Does not cover Diesel models, or Syncro, nor features specific to specialist bodywork/camper conversions. For coverage of air cooled engines, see manual no. 0638."

Usual disclaimers apply. Neither Ron, nor Kelly nor Haynes and I have wielded spanners together.
