Ron, I live in southern California. A few years back I visited a dealer here in San Diego that was selling some special conversion "weekender" Vanagons. He said the vehicles came into the port striped and were taken to a conversion shop and modified similar to the Ford, Dodge, and Chevy vans you see on the road. The ones I looked at were similar to the one you described. My personal opinion was that the idea was great, but the execution was "cheesy". Fit and finish was OK, but I was not fond of the style, what I would describe as something you would find the parlor of a house of ill repute. I have never seen on of these conversions on the road or on a used car lot or anywhere else.
