Hmmm, those are not Vanagons, not even Volkswagens. They are Volvo B202's. That's a quite capable mid engined 4x4 produced in the 60's for the Swedish army. Was superceeded in the 70's by the c303 and c306, which was more complicated and rusted out faster. About the only advantage with the newer series was the optional 6cyl VW diesel engine.
