Hi, Chris came back from vacation, and I just reached him at home. I wanted to make sure that we agreed on our position with regards to the CD project. We agreed to the following: 1) Neither of us has the time to do this. If folks want an off-line compilation, you're going to need to run this project yourselves. (Many thanks to Ken Wilfy for the biblical reference to Exodus 18!) 2) We will not object to a compilation CD being published, as long as a) The effort is done 'at cost' with volunteer labor. b) The compilation not be made until August 1st, 1998, to enable those who don't wish their postings to be included to so request. 3) We would like folks who purchase the CD to be offered the opportunity to make a voluntary donation to the Vanagon list of $10 over the cost of the CD. I stress 'voluntary'. 4) We will make the archives available (in monthly file format) to the group which takes on this project exclusively for use in the compilation. Note that only ONE person has so far requested that their posts not be published, because that person is compiling a book of their own. I still truly believe that bus people are good people, and I think that this will be a successful project. Go wild, folks! Coyote |
