Well, with the plethora of responses to the demographics queries here's me:

I am 24 (25 on June 19), married (as of tomorrow I'll be father of 2), and a support technician with the internet service provider shown in the header. I bought my '81 Vanagon L from a local used vehicle dealer on March 8, 1998 (yep, I'm really new at this) and it has 144k miles. I just recently broke the speedo cable and need badly need to replace it. I live in Jeffersonville, Indiana and drive it everyday to work in Louisville, Kentucky about 15 miles one way. I also need to get the brakes in the back repaired (very soft pedal, but the front wheels really do more than their share). I've got to get the front end work done (swaybars are held in place with a piece of rope from PO's neglect to do decent repairs.

My wife says that it was my way of compromising after the wreck of my '86 Camaro forced me to start looking for something new. I knew I had to have a family car, she maintains, and because I had always wanted a VW (since I turned 18 and my cousin let me drive his '67 Beetle), I found a happy compromise.

I consider myself somewhat of a hippy in attituded, if not in practice, though there are some events in my life that could be construed as hippiesque (sp?). I consider myself a fairly intelligent person with a level of maturity that falls somewhere between teenage rebel and and old coot. I still know how to enjoy life and the Vanagon is an expression of that.

Thanks for your time and drive safely, someday I'd love to meet you all,
