While I don't want to start a whole thread on WD-40, I agree with this statement. My comparison to WD-40 was only that the chain lube is in a similar style can - spray with red plastic tube.

We have this go around on the firearms lists all the time about WD-40. The concensus is that it's good for cleaning and desticking stuff like powder residue, but for long-term lube, you're better off with a good silicon lube, etc. Same holds for vans, IMHO. The light lubricants end up evaporating out of WD-40 and you're left with a gummy mess.
