Subject: Finally Got Speedometer Cable. Now what?
Comments: To: Vanagon <vanagon@vanagon.com>

Well, after reading your messages regarding the speedometer cable, I decided to go under the van and follow the cable through. Now I know what you meant by the little box.

So, I called my local parts store and got a lower speedometer cable (US$24.50, 1 day wait). It is about 2-3 feet long, and for the most part, looks like the older except:

The new one has two square connectors at each end while the older one has only one. The little black box has its own square connector.

Unless I superglue the two together, I don't think it will work. Furthermore, I can't seem to get the wheel-end connector to engage. I am wondering if these idiots at PepBoys left the connector in the wheel. I really hate them!

Any suggestions?
