Aircooled as in Vanagon? Over the time that I spent looking for a bus, I have bruised my poor little knuckles knocking around for Bondo and have realized that the older Vanagons are tanks! Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that the watershed year was 1986 when they went to thinner sheet metal, because I checked one of those out and it did sound tinny, but my '84 has the THWUNK that the aircooled models have when you close the doors.

Add the fact that the Type IV engine doesn't leak coolant it doesn't have, and the aircooled models look so much more attractive. I'm still pissed because I couldn't find an early '83- aircooled VW technology's last hurrah! I almost bought a cherry '81 but the guy wanted too much. :(
