The coolant may be coming from more then one place but it is clearly coming from the plastic breather valve on to of the rear heat exchanger valve. I have ordered the valve unit but Ron says it will take about a weak. Once I have replaced It I'll let the list know if the leak has been completely solved. IF so consider this amazing feat. A blind mechanical want to be has been able to maintain his Westfalia with the detailed and patient assistance of the Vanagon list members. I wish I look forward to meeting some of you folks in person, but it is amazing how much I have been able to do "on my own" with the help of this list!

So any ideas on how to fix the heater exchanger bleeder valve without replacing the whole unit? Or is this the wise move anyway?

Can someone give me a walk through on how to replace the unit so I'm ready when it arrives. I'm concerned about coolant pooring out all over and about introducing air into the system. I have a bently but it doesn't talk. My computer does. Also the Bently assumes I can see the pictures, in my case, not true.

Thanks. Man I hope this was my leak all along!
