Subject: Repair of rods knocking?

Greetings-

Sort of by default, this is my response to the survey on heads. My '85 has an engine that I have put 40k on. It lost the water pump a month and a half ago, and after replacement had a coolant leak- out of the bolt on the driver's side front. Yesterday night I started it up to drive home, and there was a knocking coming from the engine on that side. I suspect a rod- what is the feasiblity that a rod and associated parts would be the only repair? I suspect it is a high probability that the head would also need replacing.

sigh. Time for musical cars again. Geosh
