I'm 32, grew up in Germany until age 8 (parents are German) when we moved to Pittsburgh, PA. BTW, we had an Open Kadett and Mercedes 200D in Germany...no VWs. My grandfather did get one of the original Beetles after the war though.

I learned to drive on our '72 bug, which my parents sold before it needed another motor rebuild ...mistake in hindsight, of course.

We (wife Kristina and I) just got our '87GL last year and aside from it nickel and diming us a bit, it's been a fun vehicle. I'm having fun learning about the "how works a Volkswagen" (a la Muir). Look forward to meeting some more of y'all this summer at various events. We're in eastern PA and should be listed in the coming LiMBO TTT directory, including C&C (coffee and conversation offered) so stop on in if you're in the Allentown, PA area.
