I changed some hoses on my 86 Syncro this past weekend. One hose was packed with a substance that looks just like sand, it could be sand but I fail to understand how that would enter the cooling system. Scary if it is. The hose in question is directly to the left of the vacuum control box mounted on the left rear side of the engine. The hose was connected to the metal pipe that spans the perimeter of the engine compartment and to a curved plastic piece that has two other hoses attached on either side. Anyone have similar problems? Could this be corrosion? Respond diretly: paulagon@yahoo.com. Having problems being connected to vanagon.com. Paul 86 Syncro - 190K
