Derek: I find your post spurious and cynical, as well as factually inaccurate. Joel has been - and CONTINUES TO BE - an integral part of this listserve and an ongoing source of knowledge for those, like myself, who are new to the VW world. You would do well to aspire to such goals yourself. This unprovoked personal attack on a list member is disgusting to me - partly because it's unfounded, partly because it goes against all of my previous experience with Joel, and partly because your post is so ridiculously unfounded and inflammatory. >Part of the reason my postings are down is that I am so aware of the >meat-to-fluff ratio in postings that I am reluctant to post >*anything* unless it is sufficiently obscure or meaty. I feel like it >is a privilege to post and that everyone is judging me for taking up >their valuable time. For example, I typically won't post answers to >innocent questions when I know the answer is in the archives, simply >because I don't want to repeat good work, already done. Your post is not only fluff, it's a troll - that is, the worst waste of bandwidth on the Internet this side of spam. I can only assume that yours is the hope of all trollers - the hope of a full mailbox at the expense of someone who actually helps people. Where Joel might gently point someone - like myself - to the archives with a helpful URL, you choose to flame an honestly helpful member of this online community. "Physician", heal thyself... or at the very least, spare list members from your pointless, "look-at-me" trolls. I can only encourage you to continue this trend that says your "postings are down".
