Subject: ENGINE SWAP: Group purchase of mounts?
Comments: To: vanagon@vanagon.com
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

To recap my project - I am swapping an inline four VW Rabbit / Golf engine into my double cab at the "stock" (for a Golf) 15 degree slant. see http://www.volkswagen.org/vanagon/engineswap.htm for all the details.

I have brought my "prototype" engine cross member to the local fabrication shop for an estimate for duplicating it. They ball parked it at about C$150 but I will get a firm price on it tomorrow. Monday I will bring in the engine mounts (yet to be "prototyped") for them to give me a quotation on as well. I would suspect another $150 to $200 depending on how complex they are.

Is anyone interested in purchasing a set? I will be posting pictures of it on my web site as soon as the film is developed so we can all see what it looks like. I must say that the prototype cross member took 6 hours to build and $150 would be a BARGAIN to me! The system is 100% compatible with Syncro skid plates and it does not go any lower than the original engine or cross members when it is installed.
