Subject: lack of deceleration

Hello; One thing I've noticed, and been bothered by lately is the lack of deceleration ability of my 87 GL. With my old 75 Westy, I could let off on the throttle on the top of the Malahat, and the speed wouldn't rise above 85 kmh, just right. On the 87 GL I need to use the brakes all the way down the mountain to keep the speed down below 85 kmh. Also there seems to be a bit of a lag before the van starts to slow, sometimes as much as 3 seconds. Then not much effect any way.

I thought that the switch on the underside of the throttle body cut the fuel off completely if the revs were above 1200 and the throttle was released. Could this be the problem? or is it just the nature of the beast? Larry Carter
