Hello list members,

My wife just has informed me of a work business trip taking her to Newport Beach, Ca. in May. At $203.00 round trip airfare from the east coast I have decided to join her after the business part is taken of and make a vacation out of it. We plan on driving north from the Orange County (Newport Beach) area to San Francisco, while seeing as much as possible along the way. The only problem is that now that we own our Westy we wish we could use it for our transportation. To keep cost down we will probably just rent a car, and suffer driving such a substandard touring vehicle, or really enjoy not subconsciously worrying if coolant is starting to leak! I am aware of Westy rentals in Ca., anyone know the $$$ ? My questions are: -what are some of the more noteworthy things to see? -what parts of Pacific Coast Hwy (Rt. 1) should I avoid, due to El Nino damage? -what Vanagon parts dealers should I pay a vist to? -are ther any VW show & shines worth seeing btn 5/9 & 5/16? -what hotel/motels or Bed & Breakfasts are noteworthy btn LA and San Fran'? Thanks to anyone with advice. Gregg (Conshohocken, Pa. near Philadelphia) '85 Westy
