Darrell & the list, I'm not sure if this is a recall in the US for the same thing but us Aust. Wasserboxer owners received a recall notice from VW Australia about 3 years ago to replace the injectors (at their expense). The O-ring around the injector was found to be faulty in some vehicles allowing moisture to get past the ring causing hard starts and rough running or at least idling. Our '92 WBX was amongst the ones recalled (identified by the vin #) as was the '90 model that our neighbour owned. We had never had any problems of this type but our neighbour had.Ours is always garaged but his was not. I often wonder if his, being outside all the time was getting condensation in there that we avoided by always garaging the van.It can get cold in our neck of the woods. We both answered the recall and both had the injectors changed.Fixed his problems and we got brand new injectors fitted free at around 60,000kms. Thank you VW Australia. Could this shed any light on the reason for the recall in the States? Steve O. Blue Mountains NSW Aus. '92 Transporter WBX '76 Crew Cab '68 Beetle |
