I've had more than a couple of those myself, and they make for great stories, once enough time has passed that you can inject some humor. Like the time i was driving x-country and got rearended, flipping my '53 Ford tation wagon, throwing me out of the car and across the highway into a telephone pole, causing me to land on my head, sustaining such a gash that I bled so much that when the ambulances came, they took other victims to the hospital but me to the morgue, since i appeared to be dead...leading to surprise all around... I do empathize, especially with the dog crisis. I know I would have made the same decision. Just hope you can find a way to keep him from ingesting any more rocks. that can be a behavior problem that's hard to work with. It sounds to me like you've created a life with some very positive things in it, and I hope and expect that you'll get back to enjoying them soon.
