Hello- I am looking for someone who has pulled the 3 groove pulley on a syncro and replaced the syncro specific oil seal underneath. I believe I have a slight oil leak coming from this seal (either this one or the oil pump, but I cannot really tell) and before I make a home brewed VW 3102 to hold the pulley while I try anything in my means to break that bolt free, I am wondering if it is possible to replace this seal without the special VW tool (something like 3162) while the engine is still in the car. Also, I heard that this bolt may be loctited in and that I would need an impact wrench to get it out. Has anyone loctited their 3 groove pulley bolts in? dave |
