Darrell

VW of Australia sent me a recall notice in 1996 with the following and I quote their words " In accordance with the Recall Code of Practice, Volkswagen advises that your Transporter identified above, Model Year 1990 - 1991, may have fuel injectors where the sealing of the electrical coil may allow the ingress of moisture, which may cause the injectors to malfunction with the result of the engine misfiring or in some cases circumstances stalling." etc etc.

Result they worked on my fuel system and REPLACED the injectors and connectors entirely lock stock and barrel. To me it sounded like a bit more was involved that what they had written to me.

A friend who works for a VW Dealership out here suggested that the recall was due to a faulty batch of injectors that had a habit of blowing the fuel lines. Possible fire risk so VW recalled the entire batch. This was never admitted though as one can see from the letter.

Still I no complain. I get new injectors just when I was going to pull them down and have them cleaned anyway.

Ray.
