I know you can camp on HW1 in Big Sur without much problem. I've done it myself before I got the van. But what about HW1 south of LA and north of San Clemente. From my miniscule map, it looks kind of like Big Sur. Is it reasonable to camp on the side of the road in those parts or should I make a camp ground reservation?

Thanks, Eric
