A friend of mine is selling his '87 syncro. He is a certified Audi tech, works at an Audi dealer here in Seattle. Details as he gave them to me:

'87 syncro new engine, clutch, muffler, and more factory sunroof 155K mi slate blue/blue int. very clean, no dents (253) 856-1173 Please leave a msg, say you heard about it from the vanagon list.

Please call him, this is all I know about the van.
