Mark, Most propane is sold by weight. The standard barbaque grill, tank weighs 38.5 lbs. 20 lbs. of propane and 18.5 lbs for the tank. With R.V.'s the tank is not removeable so measuring by volume is the only way to meter it. Temperature then becomes a factor.
