I am about to retrofit P/S on my '86 Syncro Westy. I don't think that it will be very difficult at all. The hardest part that I can figure is mounting the bracket the holds the fluid reservoir. Switching racks is a snap, and running the lines won't be difficult as all the brackets are simply screwed into the undercarraige. BUT I don't think that I have the connections that tell the ECU to bump up the idle when the P/S pump is sucking too much power. I hope that this will not be an issue, as on my ex-86 Westy the P/S would not stall the van when turning at idle, even when these connectors were disconnected.

I think that P/S should be standard on all Syncros. With the VC working against you, low speed manuevers are quite a struggle. And I'm a burly 24 year old;-)

I don't think I would bother retro-fitting a 2WD though.
