My 2 cents.

VW mechanic ONLY! I try to stay away from the pricey dealerships and go with a good VW mechanic charging sound rates. I find good VW mechanics by word of mouth.

My past experience has been, that a non-VW mechanic only does further damage or creates an unsafe condition due to his/her lack of Volkswagen knowledge (mechanics). In the past I've had to take my VW in for re-repairs because the many non-VW mechanics just don't know what there working with. This tends to add up the dollar amount in a hurry. This, in turn, has gotten me to do alot of the work myself.

For tune-up parts I use BOSH only, not "wana be" Bosh parts. The oil filter should by O.E. ONLY. The Bus Depot offers excellent prices on these items.
