Greetings Volks:

Recently I posted my problem with severe clutch chatter here on the list. The problem began immediately after installing a Canadian rebuilt wasserboxer including a new Canadian Sachs clutch disk. A number of repairs were tried no success. I received many suggestions but I especially wish to thank Brian Steel and Ron Salmon for their helpful suggestions.

I now have 3,000 miles experience with a successful repair. We replaced the Sachs disk with a Luk disk as suggested by Brian. Ron pointed out that there might another cause since their are many successful installations of Canadian Sachs clutches. Comparing my old cross-over shaft with a new part from VW, my mechanic concluded that VW had changed the design of the part and that wear on the old part could contribute to the problem. We popped in a new cross-over.

Voila! My repaired clutch system works as good as new.

Thanks all -- Frank LaHorgue
