I made up four such plates from 3/16 aluminum plate bent in my vice to fit my $5 salvation army roof racks. Mounted the rear two onto the steel plate that makes up the pop top hinge using one of the original bolt holes and drilling another. The front pair are mounted over the cab by taking off the cab top and fastening the gutter plate through the fibreglass and through a reinforcing plate on the inside. No problems after many miles and really rough logging roads.

Because I grow weaker and shorter by the year, couldn't lift our 130 lb. kayak onto the roof rack so built a loader that fits on the rear bumper. can also hold bicycles but is overkill for that. Earl from Sunny Sooke 84 ex-California Vanagon
