Subject: 85 Vanagon, Rainy Day Stalls
Comments: To: Vanagon@VANAGON.COM

Hi,

I have an 85 Vanagon that has problems on rainy days.

It starts just fine, but about 300-400 yards down the road (at the first stop sign) it will hesitate/stall when I try to accelerate after the stop. It does not usually stall (and if it does stall, it restarts immediately). I usually pull over to the side of the road and idle/accelerate in nuetral for a few minutes (or seconds) and then I am on my merry way with no other problems. This happens even if I idle for a few minutes in my driveway before I leave.

I was discussing this with a friend and he theorized that it might be condensation/water that has accumulated on the air filter combined with moisture that has dripped in the rear air vents. His theory is the only one that seems to make sense so far, considering the symptons.

Any one else with the same problem? Any fix it ideas?

Thanks in advance

Mike
