I guess, Renier is telling the truth, but on my knowledge the locally made bellhousing for the 5 cylinder is about 200 US$. I don't know, where this difference comes from. But the Jetta 1800 engine's bellhousing is basically same as the Diesel's bellhousing. And this one may be still produced in Germany. This could explain that high price. On the German market a common bellhousing should not cost more than 600 US$.

The dude said R4655 (about $846!) I also asked about exporting and they said they don't do it themself. So if you guys want parts we will have to organize the transport. They (VWSA) obviously make enough from the local demand. Renier Marais
