Subject: Battery dead Fast - now - dead starter

Thanks to the list for 1) Helping identify the problem - yes it is the starter and 2) helping use my multimeter correctly. Both batteries are fine 12 and 14 volts for old and new, respectvely.

A few gentle taps of the hammer on the starter and crank, crank, it started fine.

So now the question is - how much time does it take to change a starter and how tough is it? What does a rebuilt starter cost?

Thanks again!

Dave
