Not that this answers your question, but just as an aside, I do recall that
either the large or the small retangular headlamp used on an '86-up Vanagon
(I forget which) is the same part number as that used on a Scirocco.
Knowing this may make it easier to find a replacement in a junkyard should
you ever break a headlamp.
