Well, the wind direction changed again down here in Florida, so I decided to go ahead and put the Esslinger 2.3 adapter kit in the vanagon.:) I already have it, and can get high clamping force pressure plate from KEP for 200mm flywheel. Seems the vibration problem associated with the ford motors is more directed towards the 2000cc motor. The 2.3 is a bit smoother, KEP tells me. I plan on using some heavy duty motor mounts and lots of insulating material over the engine lid. I installed the adapter plate with a core motor a local shop gave me. With this setup I can fab motor mounting brackets and check clearances. So far, so good. The motor fits with 3-4 inches to spare at pulley end. I am documenting the swap with pictures, will be developed tommorow and hopefully put to web site soon. Thing is, my scanner is SCSI, and the SCSI card I have won't work for some reason. Hopefully soon.
