Yeah, they are about 3". Guess they are only 3mm thick as I could EASILY lift them myself. I too wish to eventually add a winch. However, I agree that the current design won't work as is. I plan on having an accessory frame made that resides UNDER the aluminum cover plate and bolt a winch through to it. I hope to use the two accessory bolts in the bumper as part of the design (these bolt holes are clearly only for mounting fog/driving lights).
