In an extreme case, yes- you've got to floor it to keep it from upshifting at the regular times. Otherwise, no. >I > adjusted my throttle cable so that I cannot downshift with the gas pedal. You really can't, anyway. I > did this so when I was at speed the rpm's wouldn't shoot up when it > downshifted. If I need to downshift I do it manually. Are your ratios different from mine ('84)? Mine are so close, it almost doesn't matter if your in second or third; they both seem to be cruising gears. Engine RPM doesn't lower much when the trans upshifts from 2 to 3. On hills, it would be nice to toe-tap downshift. The way it is now, if you step on the gas on a significant grade, the engine doesn't wind up- it just runs louder. No downshift, either, unless you do it yourself. > I spoke to another list member who had mentioned lightening the weights on the > governor to change the shift points. It seems, Doug, that your transmission is different from mine, and you'd be satisfied with mine...:) Best regards, Sam == "Punk's not dead (it just sucks right now)" | "I'm not Punk, I'm New-Wave!" ...quit whining... http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Backstage/6507 _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
